Quasi 40 partiti politici hanno siglato un’alleanza con l’obiettivo di impedire una rielezione del presidente Muhammadu Buhari il prossimo anno. Della coalizione fa parte la principale forza di opposizione, il People’s Democratic Party (Pdp), e un nuovo soggetto nato dalla scissione dell’All Progressives Congress (Apc) di Buhari. Secondo la stampa di Abuja, l’alleanza ha il sostegno di deputati, senatori e anche governatori di Stati della Federazione. In carica dal 2015 dopo aver guidato il Paese già tra il 1983 e il 1985, generale, 75 anni, Buhari è criticato dagli oppositori anche per i frequenti ricoveri in Gran Bretagna dovuti a problemi di salute. In vista delle elezioni, in programma a febbraio (2019) l’alleanza dovrebbe presentare un candidato unico.
