In Peru, lawmakers have temporarily suspended two land-use laws that led to an indigenous uprising and dozens of deaths in the ensuing police crackdown.

Colombian soccer play, Carlos (The Kid) Valderrama, has endorsed the World March for Peace and Nonviolence inspiring others to participate in his nationally televised video spot asking for the end of wars and for complete nuclear disarmament.
