The naming as Ambassador for the World March for Peace and Non-Violence, was carried out at the press conference organized by FIFA in La Plata, Buenos Aires. There, spoke the President of Estudiantes, Rubén Filipas, Coach Alejandro Sabella and Captain and Sub-captain Sebastián Verón and Leandro Desábato.

At the event, a representative of the association World Without Wars expressed that: “This march intends to create consciousness about the necessity for peace and non-violence. The clubs of San Lorenzo de Almagro, Rosario Central and Newell’s have given their support to the World March for Peace and Non-Violence, but we thank the Club Estudiantes de la Plata because we know of players there that have given up economic advantages, we know of that mysticism that takes them to confront the world’s most powerful on an equal footing”. And he added “the image transmitted by America’s Champions club coach is that Estudiantes is a family. And as a family we want to live in a world without violence”.

Then, four children handed team captain, Juan Sebastián Verón, a flag made especially for the Club World Cup, which has the club’s colors, and its logo next to that of the World March and the phrase “The mystical march”.

At the tournament which will take place in the capital of the Arab Emirates, Estudiantes de La Plata will play its first game on December 15th, directly in the semifinals, against the winner of the match between the Congolese team TP Mazembe and Pohang Steelers FC from the Republic of Korea.
