On Saturday 9 March the conference, Night Falls in the Evening Lands: The Assange Epic took place with more than 600 people attending in person and online. It featured outstanding speakers including former Greece Finance Minister, Yanis Varoufakis; specialist in human rights, Craig Mokhiber; historian and expert in politics of the United States, Dr Emma Shortis; and a former advisor on Middle East issues to Javier Solana, the EU Foreign Policy Chief and Director of Conflicts Forum, Alastair Crooke.

As we await the decision of the judges at the UK High Court, determining if Julian will be extradited to the US or be granted a full appeal hearing, the speeches recorded at the conference will provide you with important context at this critical point in time.

Yanis Varoufakis leads MeRA25 in Greece and is co-founder of the paneuropean movement DiEM25 as well as the Progressive International. An academic economist who served as Greece’s Finance Minister in 2015, Varoufakis is the author of best-selling books including TECHNOFEUDALISM: What killed capitalism (Penguin 2023), ANOTHER NOW (Penguin 2020), ADULTS IN THE ROOM (Penguin 2017), TALKING TO MY DAUGHER (Penguin 2017), AND THE WEAK SUFFER WHAT THEY MUST? (Penguin 2016), THE GLOBAL MINOTAUR (Zed Books 2011)
