Memorial Day Remembering All Whose Lives Were Taken by War

Subway: #1 to South Ferry; #4&5 to Bowling Green; R to Whitehall St.

Battery Park

11:30 am: Gather at Battery Park Waterfront— East Coast Sailors Memorial

12:00 noon: Solemn procession through Battery Park

12:30 pm: Ceremony honoring the dead

Veterans For Peace members and friends will assemble for an in-person Memorial Day Observance at the waterfront in Battery Park and proceed through the park with a bagpiper and flag-draped coffin, distributing flyers about the true meaning of Memorial Day. There will be an Invocation by Chaplain James Yee, poetry, music and singing with the Raging Grannies and the Filthy Rotten System. Folks are asked to wear black t-shirts to commemorate the solemnity of the occasion. At the seawall, we will have a Ceremony with white carnations, remembering our loved ones and those who have died in war.
