POEM

Morning companion, my buddy, my friend
Every day, she sits on her favorite branch
Right outside my bedroom window.

She wiggles, she chirps
She stretches her wings
She looks at me, straight in the eye.

The morning sun behind her
Peeks through the thicket of leaves
Shines shafts of light that shimmer and glow.

A warmth slowly seeps through
A new day to welcome me and you
She ushers it in, my companion, my friend.

She wiggles, she chirps
She stretches her wings
She looks at me, straight in the eye.

With a beckoning look, she gently swoops
Surely, gracefully, up, up, up
Up into the blue skies above.

Follow me with your gaze
The heavenly skies embrace you
Blue firmament, soft clouds, a warm caress.

Lift your spirits, higher
High, high, as high you can go
The firmament beckons, she silently says.

Follow me with your gaze
As I circle round and round
A halo, only you and I can create.

The circle of life, we draw up above
The day that follows night
The seasons that come and go.

Morning companion, my buddy, my friend
Her joyful bird song fills the air
A herald of hope that a new day can bring.
