Who are we?

When certainties collapse, chasms and darkness open up, but so do hopes. Sharing fears and desires, a small collective of human beings who agree on the values of universalist humanism began to tune in.

A handful of people who are concerned and challenged by the convulsive moment our planet is going through. We know that those bends where some cycles end and others begin always lead us to obsessive questions.

Like those mythical Uroboros, we ask ourselves, is life an eternal beginning, a Sisyphus condemned to the eternal loop of going up and down, only to go up again, or as Zarathustra said, by what bridge does the now pass into the future?

Each end is the beginning of a new cycle that terrifies or amazes us, but never leaves us unmoved. We want to untangle ropes, untie knots and unravel riddles, but we are not able to do it alone.

We will encourage friends who seem of interest to us to share their own doubts, certainties, questions or answers in writing. Although, swimming against the tide, we will not be looking for likes or viewers, as we only want to enrich the collective reflection.

True to our name, we will come out every three months, not to talk about the current situation but about the major trends, hoping that those interested in social processes will read us, whether they are few or many.

“At the end of this dark period, nothing will be the same as before, little by little the dawn of a new day will begin to break”, said Silo many years ago. With the magazine Ciclos we aspire to generate a space for reflection to discern between that night that is receding and that dawn that is approaching.

This is the preamble to the electronic magazine Ciclos, in which humanists of different generations will contribute their opinions on national and international issues, from the perspective of the universalist humanism promoted by Mario Rodríguez Cobos (Silo), which will be launched this Tuesday 22nd at 9pm on Instagram (ACCION HUMANISTA and HUMANISTAS_FEMINISTAS).

Appearing quarterly, it does not aim to convince or compete but to stimulate and develop reflection and the exchange of ideas, in a “humanist attitude” guided by non-violence, non-discrimination and freedom of choice.

In these times of crisis that are expressed in many areas, such as climate, health, populism, disinformation or intentional misinformation, “Cycles” represents a very welcome space for those interested in the different angles of expression of universalist humanism.
