The Dakota Access Pipeline Project (DAPL), which is cause for serious ethical, environmental and human rights concerns, is receiving investment support from 4 major French banks – Credit Agricole,  Société Générale, Natixis and BNP-Paribas.

Credit Agricole will comply with the recommendations of an independent consultant and will not allocate further loans to the project. They’ve publicly recognized their ethical responsibilities for respecting human rights, but have not yet divested.

Société Générale is also deferring to the recommendations of an independent consultant.

Natixis and BNP-Paribas have not yet made statements concerning DAPL.

PAGE Paris and Paris Against Trump have therefore organized a social media campaign on Thursday, April 6, asking people to send coordinated messages via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social media to the French banks involved in the project. Here are some examples:  I don’t want my money paying for fossil fuels! #NoDAPL #DivestDAPL. Don’t invest your money and ours in a massive human rights violation!
