In the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims, do a great deal of worship and charitable activities. In Algeria, a group of enthusiastic young people launched an initiative called ‘Algerian Food Bank’ to help poorer families and to contribute to the eradication of hunger in parts of the country. Their slogan is “Do Good”.

An interesting additionaBpx7nxiCYAIrNd4l thing is that these young volunteers contribute to spreading a culture of peace, because they are instilling the spirit of love, among the various strata of society. Their activities drew the attention of the Algerian  media.

To further clarify, Algerian Food Bank is the first such food bank in the history of Algeria, it was initiated by SIDRA Association in July 5, 2013, and this  project is non-profit aiming to collect, manage and share food and provisions for free or almost free to the poor in an effective and sustainable manner.

It also acts through partner organizations at the national level to respond to food emergencies in the more remote areas. The campaigns involve different sections of society in voluntary actions and are based on the energy and freshness of Algerian youth to achieve innovative and effective measures against hunger and malnutrition.

Mission:  Collect, manage, and share food and provisions for free or almost free to the poor in an effective and sustainable manner.

Objectives: Provide food aid to needy people; involve people and companies in voluntary actions; create the solidarity spirit among Algerian citizens.

Vision:  Make Algerian Food Bank a reference in the field of management of community projects related to food aid in Algeria with values of equality, solidarity, active citizenship, innovation, sustainability, and peace-building.
