On behalf of the NYC chapter of the Humanist Party and the International Federation of Humanist Parties, we would like to send our deepest sympathies and our support on this day of mourning to our Venezuelan brothers and sisters. Mr. Chavez is not dead: his contribution to Venezuela and the rest of South America have been indisputable. His actions will have repercussions forever. The moment has come to build upon the work done for the last 13 years, this is a time for the future. Chavez opened the road and showed the possibilities. How many Presidents in the world today are fighting for the rights of the poor? The geopolitical place of Venezuela is very important. Venezuela has the energetic, political and human resources to stand as an alternative to the neoliberal, decadent system covering most of the world. Let Venezuela become the beacon of a new Humanity.
