For just over five months, the three crew members will continue their research work in space.

After completing their assigned tasks on the first day of the new year, the Chinese astronauts donned special hoodies and turned on the cameras to record their activities in space on New Year’s Day. One of the three crew members, Tang Shengjie, took some of his time to review his harvest.

The crew of the Chinese spacecraft Shenzhou-17 have shown the world what it was like to live the first day of 2024 in orbit. For just over five months, the three crew members will continue their research work in space.

For the three astronauts, there was also time to enjoy a special meal to mark the start of 2024.

The Shenzhou-17 crew will continue their research work in space at least until April, when they are scheduled to return.

The manned Shenzhou-17 spacecraft was launched into space on 26 October and sent three astronauts to the Tiangong space station for a six-month mission.
