On the International Day of Nonviolence, October 2nd, the 3rd World March for Peace and Nonviolence will be officially presented in the Spanish Congress of Deputies in Madrid, which will debut in San José, Costa Rica, on the same date in a year’s time.

At the same time, in the Legislative Assembly of San José de Costa Rica, the presentation of the next march will be made by Geovanny Blanco, member of the international coordination team of World without Wars and without Violence and coordinator of the World March in Costa Rica, with whom a live connection will be established.

María Victoria Caro Bernal, Honorary President of the Association of Rhetoric and Eloquence of the Ateneo de Madrid, director of the International Festival of Poetry and Art Grito de mujer, among others, will be in charge of the event, which will include a poetic tribute to Gandhi.

The round table, which is open to the general public as well as to groups, and which will also be broadcast on the Congress TV channel (https://www.congreso.es/es/actualidad/canal-parlamento), will include the following speakers:

  • – Federico Mayor Zaragoza: President of the Culture of Peace Function, former Director of UNESCO.

  • – Rafael Egido Perez: Sociologist, councillor for the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) Serna del Monte

One year after the start of the March from that symbolic point in Costa Rica that declared itself at peace with the world by suppressing its army in 1948, this launch will be the occasion for an appeal to the consciousness of all citizens, for it to make its contribution to this project, whatever it may be. So that the voice of the good people who want to live in a peaceful and non-violent world can resound and multiply its echo, through this international journey that will be drawn by all of us.
