As a new consultation meeting on security issues is being prepared for tomorrow (19 September) in Beijing, which will be attended by senior Chinese and Russian officials, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today that various types of provocative actions originating in Washington D.C. are unacceptable.

“Russia and China do not want to run the world at all, but some other countries do,” Peskov said on Rossiya 1 on Sunday.

Peskov also drew attention to the fact that Moscow and Beijing are united in their assessment of the unacceptability of such destabilising behaviour on the part of the United States.

The Kremlin spokesman made the remarks on the eve of the start of a new round of consultations on security issues in the Chinese capital.

The Russian Security Council’s press office said that the head of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, will hold consultations on strategic stability with the member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, Yang Jiechi.

He will also hold bilateral consultations on security, justice and public order with Guo Shengkun, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

As Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Patrushev holds regular meetings with his Chinese colleagues to discuss Moscow and Beijing’s cooperation on global and regional security issues and the joint response to current threats and challenges.
