On the birth anniversary of respected ShivaJi Maharaj, the Humanists met at Khandala, near Mumbai, India to launch the Manavatavadi Kisan Manch (Humanist Farmers Platform) and had two days of deliberations to chalk out the next program of its spread and growth across Maharashtra.

The launch, coordinated by the World Humanist Forum, Asia was held in the august presence of: Shankar Dravid and  AP Bhupatkar of Humanist Party of IndiaDr. Shamsuddin Tamboli, President of Muslim Satya Shodhak MandalMr. Sanjay Pandi Rail Majdoor Kamgar Sangthan; Mr. Dharam Pal Singh Chauhan of SKM MoradabadDr. Banazir working in the area of education, and activists of Humanist Movement, and with the active participation of the selected area representatives and Members of Humanist Movement from Nanded and Latur districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra, India.

The event also benefited from the thankful guidance (through online interaction) of:  Mr. Devinder Kumar, a trained agricultural scientist and noted agriculture expert; Dr. Ashish Mittal, General Secretary of AIKMS); and Mr. Milind Murugkar, a well-known policy analyst in the field of Energy, Food Policy and Agriculture, and the founder of Friends of Democracy, who, through their experienced expertise, guided the participants for better understanding of the issues involved and priority areas of work to be done by the Farmers themselves in the role of activists.

It was unanimously decided to extend its wholehearted unconditional support to the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM that headed the 13 months historical protest at Delhi borders) for its continuous non-violent protest against the anti-farmer policies of the Government.

It was decided to launch a campaign of formation of grassroots units of Farmers across hundreds of villages where the Humanists are already active. A detailed program of the same was finalized and launched immediately. A committee of activists has been formed for the activities of growth by forming grassroots groups across the villages.
