Damascus, Jul 21 (Prensa Latina) More than 750,000 internally displaced persons and about 13,000 Syrian refugees returned to their homes in the first six months of this year, United Nations sources reported today.

A statement from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), published here, indicated that these people returned to their communities in Syrian provinces such as Aleppo, Hama, Damascus and other areas.

The UN body also expressed its approval of the initiative of the Syrian and Russian authorities to establish a center for the attention of displaced Syrians who return to their homes.

This Office is located on the Syrian-Jordanian border and aims to encourage the voluntary return of the children of this land who moved to the neighboring nation.

On the occasion of the war unleashed in Syria in March 2011, thousands of citizens of this Middle Eastern country fled and temporarily settled in neighboring territories such as Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey.
