Economist, trained in Germany, tremendously capable in her area, Paola chose the option of taking roots among the most humble, in the Chilean countryside of the Province of Curicó.

This gave rise to one of the first Fair Trade agricultural cooperatives of production, especially gathering female temporary workers, dignifying their lives and fighting for their rights as well as those of several other unions.

Humanist with a long history, although she held more than once positions at the level of National Coordination of the Humanist Party, she tried – campaign after campaign – to represent her people in the District, where she always worked in close proximity to them.

Perhaps for that reason, she took the option of a simple, clear language to explain her innovative economic and political proposals with the most ordinary everyday words possible. “Sowing consciousness” was called the radio program she gave life to, and from our medium – Pressenza – we published her columns of opinion for years, always characterized by the denunciation of abusive situations and redistributive proposals, recognizable as common sense by anyone who resonated with the need for social justice and non-discrimination.

Here are her articles (in Spanish): https://www.pressenza.com/search_gcse/?q=Paola%20Parra

Today we regret her departure, while admiring her tenacious example of activism and conviction to make this world an inclusive and supportive place, where all human beings have their place.

Her funeral will be held tomorrow, Thursday 2nd, in the Park of Study and Reflection El Remanso, Sagrada Familia, Province of Curicó. Then the procession will go to Santiago de Chile, to say goodbye to her on Friday with ceremonies in one of the crematoriums of the Metropolitan Region.

Peace in the heart, Light in the understanding!
