Today, in Bangladesh, the minorities are the victims of government-inflicted atrocities. Spurred on by the Awami League’s heinous political agenda and aided by the government’s state organs, the minorities are being victimised through acts of brutality.
Their homes, Temples, Churches and Pagodas are being burnt down and torched by the Awami League goons and members of its students and youth wings. Many from the minority communities have lost their valuables, and often lives as well. Thousands of incidents of violation of the human rights of religious minority groups have been recorded, including hundreds of crimes like murder, injury, assault, abduction, rape, loot, land grabbing, house grabbing, and attacks on religious facilities.
The current regime has shown nothing but the greatest failure and unwillingness in protecting the rights and lives of the minorities. Indeed, instead of taking due measures to safeguard the minorities, the government has launched the ‘blame game’ politics by facilitating its political and state machineries to conduct the repressions. In this monstrous pursuit, the government is aided by a segment of partisan media and some self-serving privileged individuals.
