‘Jeremy stands four square against Trident and its replacement and his nomination will now ensure that this issue takes a central place in the forthcoming leadership debates. This is a vital moment for the Labour Party and for the country as a whole. Jeremy Corbyn speaks for a huge progressive constituency in the UK, with a majority of the population firmly against Trident. After the obliteration of Labour’s traditional heartland vote in Scotland – largely on the Trident issue – this is a debate that Labour can’t afford to ignore.’

CND [Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament] General Secretary Kate Hudson

“CND congratulates our Vice-Chair Jeremy Corbyn on his nomination for leader of the Labour Party.”

Is there hope yet for a UK free from Nuclear Weapons? Jeremy Corbyn is probably one of the most coherent politicians of our age, had the lowest expenses claim for parliamentary work at a time when most others, across parties, were making exaggerated and often fraudulent claims. He got his nomination with the support from other MPs who were not thinking about voting for him, but just for the sake of having a “wider discussion”. But now he has been endorsed by the biggest Trade Union, Unite as well as the The Fire Brigades Union and others.

His commitment to peace, social justice and the rights of ordinary people are legendary, and we, those share such objectives, hope that his campaign will put nuclear disarmament firmly in the public consciousness.
