During three days, from Thursday 19 September to Saturday 21 September 2013, at a Conakry’s Hotel, the 4th Chapter of the WEST AFRICAN HUMANIST FORUM took place with the theme: PEACE AND NONVIOLENCE.

This historic rendezvous for humanists in Guinea happened under the chairmanship of the Minister of Human Rights and Public Freedom of Guinea. The attendance was very large with at least 150 people. At this forum there were also presen political parties of the opposition, NGOs and associations, citizens of ECOWAS (The Economic Community of West African States) countries, such as Senegal, Mali, Ivory Coast, etc..

In a friendly atmosphere, the opening of the forum began with speeches by the national coordinator of Guinea, and then the general coordinator of the West African humanist forum. Later members from each delegation took the floor to explain their activities. The representative of the Minister of Human Rights and Public Freedom welcomed the initiative of the humanists and carried out the opening of the forum.

There were several themes: food security in West Africa, Women and Development, prevention and management of conflicts in Africa, policy and strategy to fight against malaria in Africa, the challenge of education for nonviolence and the problem of sub-regional economic integration.

Broadcast media of Guinea were also present.

The forum took resolutions to be made ​​available to all on the www.forumhumanisteouestafricain.webnode.fr site.

A new coordinator of the West African humanist forum was elected: Tamba Joseph Tolno, national coordinator of the Forum of Guinea.

The next forum will take place in Côte d’Ivoire in August 2014.
