Buenos Aires, Aug 18 (Prensa Latina) Around 70 priests of the ”Option for the Poor” movement today join a hunger strike in solidarity with the Argentinean parliamentarian and social leader Milagro Sala, considered a political prisoner.

The priests will fast for 24 hours from midnight tonight in solidarity with the leader of the social organization ‘Tupac Amaru’ and to protest the loss of the rule of law in Jujuy.

Among the 70 priests on hunger strike are Marcelo Ciaramella (Quilmes), Rodolfo Viano (Bahia Blanca), Daniel Echeverria (San Justo), Mariano Ledesma (Santiago del Estero), Raul Gabrielli (San Martin) and Juan Carlos Aguiar (Rosario).

In addition, on Sunday at 17:00 local time in Plaza de Mayo a ‘Mass for Milagro’ will take place to protest the ‘isolation and illegal detention’ of ‘the first political prisoner’ of what they describe as a ‘low intensity democracy’.

Supporting the priests, are Alejandro Garfagnini, national coordinator of the Tupac Amaru; Nelida Rojas, Tupac Amaru of Mendoza; Gimenez Gumercinda Valdéz, from Mothers Against Institutional Violence and Victorio Paulon, from the Confederation of Workers of Argentina strike.

Ana Gonzalez, an anthropologist, feminist and professor at the University of Buenos Aires, will also be present as well as all members of the Committee for the Freedom of Milagro Sala.
