New York, April 8, 2015 – During a Town Hall Meeting on immigration held in Jackson Heights tonight, the district’s congressman Joe Crowley said he was doubtful that any immigration reform would pass during what remains of President Obama’s second term. He said “It makes more sense with what is happening right now to seek the executive orders route. As a result of the inability of the US Congress to actually pass any progressive immigration reforms, I think the best opportunity right now is to seek the executive order. It’s only a temporary solution and not a long term one, it doesn’t remove the need for progressive immigration reform and for new legislation to pass, but it is something right now that will alleviate some the pressure that we see in our country.”
