September 2025 — A coalition of activists has launched an urgent international campaign demanding that governments support a UN-mandated multinational armed protective force to halt what they describe as Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
The campaign, coordinated by grassroots organizers rather than a single organization, aims to mobilize public pressure on governments worldwide in the coming weeks. At its center is a new website, stopgenocide.com, which enables people in any country to directly email their national representatives. The site also provides background resources, FAQs, and access to campaign materials.
Global Mobilization Tools
In less than three weeks, the initiative has built a multilingual outreach strategy across several platforms:
-
Website: stopgenocide.com and stopgenocide.com/unga
-
YouTube Channel: providing background materials and campaign updates
-
LinkedIn outreach: with posts such as this appeal by campaigner Merijn Goeman
Campaigners have also begun contacting “anti-genocide influencers” across multiple countries to expand the initiative’s reach and are coordinating closely with groups such as Protect Palestine, Lifeline for Palestine, and People Against Genocide Everywhere.
UN Context
The campaign comes in the wake of the UN General Assembly’s September 18, 2024, resolution giving Israel one year to withdraw fully from occupied territories, including Gaza. Instead, organizers note, the war has escalated, despite rulings from the International Court of Justice.
With states now negotiating under the Uniting for Peace framework, Colombian President Gustavo Petro has publicly called for establishing a multinational protection force for Palestinians. Campaigners argue this is “the world’s best chance ever” to stop the bloodshed.
Key Demands
The initiative calls on UN member states to:
-
Use the General Assembly’s Uniting for Peace authority to adopt a resolution mandating a multinational armed protection force for Palestine.
-
Deploy such a force to end the violence and ensure humanitarian aid enters Gaza.
-
Protect the Global Sumud Flotilla bringing aid to Palestinians.
-
Reject the Saudi-French proposal, which campaigners say would only prolong the genocide.
Appeal for Urgent Action
“Worldwide pressure will have to mount in the coming one to two weeks,” the organizers said in a joint statement. “We invite all individuals and organizations to use these tools and join us in demanding immediate UN action.”
