Protesters will be gathering from across the country in New York City on Saturday, Aug. 16 for a massive show of opposition to the forced starvation of Gaza imposed by the U.S. and Israeli governments. Trump has greenlit this Israeli starvation regime, while the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has weaponized hunger instead of ending it. Now, reports show the United States is working with Israel to tie future aid to Israeli plans for full occupation.

When: Saturday, August 16 at 2:00 p.m.

Where: Bryant Park/New York Public Library Steps, New York City

In response, a broad coalition of pro-Palestine and human rights organizations are organizing a mass march to demand the lifting of the blockade and a ceasefire to bring an end to the genocide. Over 100 organizations have endorsed in just the first 24 hours after the protest was announced, including the Palestinian Youth Movement, Jewish Voice for Peace, ANSWER Coalition, American Muslims for Palestine, CODEPINK, American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, and many more.

Brian Becker, National Director of the ANSWER Coalition, said, “Now is the time to take to the streets. We will be coming together in massive numbers to show the world that the people of this country will not allow this starvation campaign to be waged in our name. We are doing this as part of a global movement. Similar huge marches have taken place around the world in recent days – now it’s time for one in the biggest city of the United States.”

Taher Dahleh of the Palestinian Youth Movement, said, “Almost two years into the US-Israeli genocide on Gaza, Trump and Israel have only increased their barbarity: imposing mass starvation as part of their effort to force Palestinians from their land and colonize Gaza. Hundreds of thousands of people have already been murdered, and hundreds of thousands more face imminent death from starvation. The people of the world need to take a stand and demand an end to this horrific crime and an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestine.”

Mohamad Habehh of American Muslims for Palestine said, “The entire world is horrified at the scenes of mass starvation coming out of Gaza. And when Palestinians line up to receive what little food aid does make it in, Israeli soldiers routinely massacre starving civilians. Enough with the bogus Trump administration-led aid schemes. The only way to put an end to this crisis is for Israel to end its genocidal war and lift the blockade of Gaza.”
