We gathered yesterday, Palestinians and Israelis together, in Beit Jala to express our outrage at the recent passing of the “Death Penalty for Terrorists” law – a new tool of oppression and apartheid against the Palestinians.
During a press conference before the demonstration, our Palestinian coordinator Jamil, told a group of international journalists that “we will continue to protest across all areas of the West Bank until this unjust law is repealed”.
The protest was quickly repressed by the Israeli police and military, who declared the area a “closed military zone” and threatened the activists with arrest if they did not disperse.
We will not remain silent when such grave violation of the right to life and due process becomes the norm.
