Thousands of people gathered early this afternoon in a packed Piazza 25 Aprile to say no to the presence of ICE in Milan, and not only during the Winter Olympics.
There were many flags of left-wing parties, movements, and associations—from ARCI to CGIL, ANPI, and Sentinelli—but above all, there were many Milanese of all ages, lots of ironic and imaginative homemade signs and lots of whistles, imitating the campaign to support migrants in American cities, which sees observers stationed in the streets and signaling with whistles the arrival of ICE squads to allow the unfortunate to hide or flee.

During the protest, which then turned into a march towards Piazza Cairoli, messages were read from the families of nurse Alex Pretti and from poet Renée Nicole Good’s partner, who were brutally killed by ICE agents. They will not be forgotten, as many signs held by protesters assured.
