On Thursday, October 2nd, the International Day of Nonviolence, protest demonstrations were held in numerous cities around the world in solidarity with the Global Sumud Flotilla and to demand an end to the genocide against the Palestinian people.
In Barcelona, the day was particularly intense. In the morning, over 6,000 students, called together by the Student Union, marched to the City Hall square and the headquarters of the Generalitat. The demonstration was marked by banners, Palestinian flags, and chants against the blockade and occupation, showing solidarity with the affected civilian population and demanding immediate access for humanitarian aid to Gaza. At other points in the city, such as University Square, other rallies took place where slogans were chanted against the Israeli occupation and in defense of Palestine.

In the evening, at 6:00 PM, thousands of citizens once again filled the area around the port for an encampment where an assembly was organized to coordinate the protest and plan new activities for the coming days. According to the organizers, the intention is to maintain the space as a permanent mobilization center against the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

- “Occupied lands will be reclaimed,”
- “Gaza, Gaza, you are not alone,”
- “Free, free Palestine,”
- “Israel is not a country, it’s an occupation,” and
- “Hands off the flotilla, long live Palestine.”
