Today marked the start of three consecutive days of demonstrations organized by the broad coalition against the Netanyahu government to demand an end to the war in Gaza. A demonstration took place near the prime minister’s home, along with roadblocks and protests against the call-up of 60,000 reservists to continue the war in Gaza.
Of course, the Israeli media and many international news outlets covering the protests only showed two burning trash cans near Netanyahu’s home and not the thousands of peaceful protesters in various Israeli cities, attempting to endorse the violent side of the protest.
The broad coalition that called for the demonstrations is actually largely composed of nonviolent groups, such as conscientious objectors and Israeli-Palestinian dialogue associations such as Combatants for Peace, Standing Together, and Parent Circle, which have been working for years for a solution to the conflict based on dialogue and peaceful coexistence, as exemplified for 50 years by Neve Shalom-Wahat al-Salam.
