There are two rather serious problems hanging over the inhumane immigrant detention center known as “Alligator Alcatraz” (which is not a nickname, it is really called that), which Trump wanted to set an example of how to treat those who try to enter the United States.

Kathleen Williams, a federal judge in the Southern District Court of Florida, has ordered the center to be closed within 60 days. The ruling follows a complaint filed by environmental groups and the Miccosukee tribe alleging that the center is causing serious and irreparable damage to the fragile wetland ecosystem.

Furthermore, according to an analysis of legal documents conducted by the Miami Herald, five of the contractors hired by Florida to build and operate Alligator Alcatraz are linked to allegations of improper business practices and misuse of public funds.

The center has long been the subject of protests by movements opposed to President Trump’s immigration policy.
