Opposition to Trump and his ambitions to reign supreme has merged with protests against war, racism, and ICE’s brutal violence against immigrants. This creative uprising is evidenced by the thousands of handmade signs displayed at various demonstrations, an example of the “radical kindness” evoked by Jane Fonda during the most anticipated event of the day: the rally in St. Paul, Minnesota, attended by Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez, and Bernie Sanders, among others.

Bruce Springsteen called Minnesota “an inspiration for the entire country” and performed the song “Streets of Minneapolis,” dedicated to residents’ resistance to ICE raids and to the memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, killed by agents of “King Trump’s private army,” while the crowd chanted “ICE out now!”

In New York, Robert De Niro attended the huge demonstration along with Attorney General Leticia James and Reverend Al Sharpton.
