Open letter warns that without resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, regional stability will remain impossible, and criticizes the silence of Israel’s political opposition as the war escalates
Eighty Jewish and Arab organizations in Israel sent an open letter today (Monday) to U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling for an end to the war with Iran and the launch of a broad regional political process aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and stabilizing the Middle East.
The organizations signing the letter are members of the “It’s Time” coalition, a broad alliance of peace, reconciliation, and shared-society organizations in Israel.
In the letter, the organizations warn that the current war is not advancing security but instead places the entire region at risk:
“It is time to stop the war with Iran – a war whose goals are unattainable and that lacks a clear exit strategy. Every additional war in the region only brings the next round closer instead of preventing it.”
According to the organizations, the war with Iran cannot be viewed in isolation but is directly connected to developments in Gaza and the West Bank. The letter notes that under the cover of the regional escalation, the fragile ceasefire in Gaza is under threat, most crossings remain closed, limiting the flow of humanitarian aid, while settler violence in the West Bank continues to escalate – raising the risk of broader regional deterioration.
The organizations stress that without a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, regional stability cannot be achieved:
“Just as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a central source of regional instability, its resolution will be the key to building a new and stable regional security architecture.”
The letter also criticizes the Israeli political system, particularly the lack of a clear Jewish opposition voice calling for an end to the war:
“In the absence of a clear political voice calling for an end to the war, civil society is forced to raise this flag and express the will of the vast majority of the public in Israel, who seek life, peace, and an end to the cycle of bloodshed.”
The organizations say the call to end the war is part of a broader effort to promote a regional political process, including maintaining the Gaza ceasefire, curbing violence in the West Bank, and convening a regional conference to launch a diplomatic process aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
On April 30, the “It’s Time” coalition will hold the People’s Peace Summit in Tel Aviv – the largest anti-war event planned in Israel in 2026 and the first major public gathering calling for an end to the wars with Iran and Lebanon and for a regional political process.
