A meeting on the topic of Pan-Africanism and the Ubuntu philosophy took place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ubuntu Humanist Library in Dakar.

The event, organized by the Center of Study, Reflection, and Action of Pikine, was attended by many neighborhood residents, representatives of three Pan-Africanist associations, and some observers from other countries. Local authorities were also informed and invited to join. The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere, with about 35 participants present.

Following this meeting, future activities in the Pan-Africanist field are planned, in the spirit of the cultural legacy of Cheikh Anta Diop.

The “Ubuntu” Humanist Library was inaugurated on October 17, 2025, in the Pikine Icotaf neighborhood, in collaboration with the association “Energy for Human Rights Senegal.” It is a space dedicated to promoting peace and nonviolence through reading, dialogue, and active community participation.

In a world marked by conflicts, nonviolence is presented as a lifestyle to learn and practice. Books, culture, and collective activities become tools for transformation, fostering understanding, mutual respect, and social cohesion. The library does not only lend books—it also encourages critical thinking and awareness of the principles of personal and social nonviolence.

Every month, the center offers a calendar of activities open to everyone: film screenings, expert talks, book presentations, reading groups, and theater workshops. These initiatives, already appreciated in the neighborhood, involve both young people and adults, promoting creative expression, discussion, and well-being.

Special attention is given to young people, including through school visits in Pikine with storytelling sessions, workshops, and debates on active citizenship and social responsibility.

Open to collaboration with local associations, the library aims to create a lasting impact, providing concrete tools to manage conflicts constructively and to educate more aware and responsible citizens. The goal is to make nonviolence not just an ideal, but a daily practice.
