They called it “Truth and Freedom Day,” the mobilization in Minneapolis against ICE raids targeting immigrants, which among other things led to the death of Renée Good. It was a huge popular response to the repressive activities carried out by the Trump administration in disregard of the most basic human rights.

Hundreds of businesses in the Twin Cities remained closed on Friday as thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in downtown Minneapolis in solidarity against the repression of Operation Metro Surge.

An unusual demonstration took place at Minneapolis airport, where a group of about a hundred religious leaders of various denominations took to the airport runways in an attempt to block planes carrying deported immigrants back to their countries of origin. Despite the intense cold, the religious leaders prayed on the runway until they were arrested by the police.
