Los resultados de su estudio fueron\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41416-019-0561-z\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">publicados<\/a>\u00a0este 27 de septiembre en la revista British Journal of Cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Se trata de la prote\u00edna \u03b2GBP, producida por las c\u00e9lulas inmunes, que, seg\u00fan determinaron los investigadores, ataca a las c\u00e9lulas cancerosas provocando su muerte. Adem\u00e1s, la mol\u00e9cula\u00a0ayuda al sistema inmunol\u00f3gico a\u00a0<strong>garantizar \u00abprotecci\u00f3n a largo plazo\u00bb contra la recurrencia<\/strong>, reza un\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/news\/using-the-immune-system-as-a-defence-against-cancer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">comunicado<\/a>\u00a0de la Universidad.<\/p>\n<p>Daily Mail\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-7511755\/Molecule-immune-triggers-cancer-suicide-lab.html?ito=social-twitter_mailonline\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">se\u00f1al\u00f3<\/a>\u00a0que en el marco de su investigaci\u00f3n los cient\u00edficos usaron \u03b2GBP contra las c\u00e9lulas de c\u00e1ncer colorrectal y observaron las evidencias de la destrucci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas malignas en las primeras 48 horas del inicio del tratamiento. Los m\u00e1s populares son la intervenci\u00f3n quir\u00fargica, radioterapia y quimioterapia, que, no obstante, provocan una serie de\u00a0<strong>efectos secundarios<\/strong>, \u00abda\u00f1inos y que tienen resultados inciertos\u00bb. \u00abEn cambio, la calidad antitumoral de \u03b2GBP es selectiva y\u00a0<strong>no da\u00f1a a las c\u00e9lulas sanas<\/strong>\u00ab, afirm\u00f3 Livio Mallucci, autor principal del estudio.<\/p>\n<p>De acuerdo con sus afirmaciones, la prote\u00edna es efectiva contra el c\u00e1ncer colorrectal m\u00e1s agresivo y \u00ab<strong>una amplia gama de otras c\u00e9lulas cancerosas<\/strong>\u00a0que igualmente no responden a las terapias actuales\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEste estudio representa una evidencia experimental de una estrategia, donde el ataque a las c\u00e9lulas cancerosas y la estimulaci\u00f3n de la inmunidad se combinan para impulsar\u00a0<strong>una respuesta inmediata y a largo plazo contra el c\u00e1ncer agresivo<\/strong>\u00ab, precis\u00f3 Mallucci.
