Estos se enfriaron y se condensaron en la superficie de un contenedor, convirti\u00e9ndose poco despu\u00e9s en una fina capa de arena, seg\u00fan explican los autores del estudio publicado hoy s\u00e1bado en la revista\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/advances.sciencemag.org\/content\/4\/12\/eaau3275\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science Advances.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores colocaron esos granos en una c\u00e1mara de reacci\u00f3n y consiguieron utilizarlos para convertir carb\u00f3n en alcohol, un proceso qu\u00edmico sofisticado y dif\u00edcil que solo los metales preciosos como el oro son capaces de alcanzar.<\/p>\n<p>El peso y la apariencia del cobre, recuerdan los cient\u00edficos, son muy similares a los del oro ya de por s\u00ed, y durante siglos los alquimistas intentaron\u00a0convertir el material en oro.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLas nanopart\u00edculas de carb\u00f3n llevaron a cabo una reacci\u00f3n catal\u00edtica semejante a la del oro o la plata\u201d,\u00a0resistentes a las altas temperaturas, la oxidaci\u00f3n y la erosi\u00f3n, explican el profesor Sun Jian y sus colegas en un comunicado recogido este mismo s\u00e1bado por\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/beta.scmp.com\/news\/china\/science\/article\/2179209\/chinese-scientists-turn-copper-gold\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">medios locales<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>El descubrimiento es importante porque las nuevas propiedades que adquiere el cobre tras pasar por todas esas reacciones son la raz\u00f3n por la que se utiliza el oro en dispositivos m\u00f3viles como los celulares.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cient\u00edficos chinos dicen haber logrado convertir cobre en un material \u201ccasi id\u00e9ntico\u201d al oro, resistente a las altas temperaturas, la oxidaci\u00f3n y la erosi\u00f3n.
