DECam se encuentra instalada en la parte m\u00e1s alta del telescopio V\u00edctor Manuel Blanco, lo que le permite al DECam recolectar la luz reflejada por el espejo del telescopio, el cual mide cuatro metros de di\u00e1metro y est\u00e1 recubierto de aluminio.<\/p>\n<p>Posteriormente, la luz de las estrellas pasa a trav\u00e9s de los componentes \u00f3pticos internos del DECam, <a href=\"https:\/\/noirlab.edu\/public\/programs\/ctio\/victor-blanco-4m-telescope\/decam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">incluido<\/a> un lente correctivo de cinco elementos, para que finalmente la luz sea capturada por un plano focal compuesto por <strong>62 sensores<\/strong>conocidos como dispositivos de carga acoplada (CCD, por sus siglas en ingles), con el prop\u00f3sito de generar las im\u00e1genes detalladas de las dos galaxias.<\/p>\n<p>Por \u00faltimo, el NOIRLAB tiene previsto que\u00a0ambas galaxias se fusionen para convertirse en una de mayor tama\u00f1o, siendo \u00abun claro ejemplo de evoluci\u00f3n gal\u00e1ctica\u00bb.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Las protagonistas de esta fotograf\u00eda fueron la galaxia espiral barrada NGC 1512 y su vecina de menor tama\u00f1o NGC 1510, que se localizan en la constelaci\u00f3n Horologium, a unos 60 millones de a\u00f1os luz de distancia de la Tierra.
