Europ\u00e4ische Kolonialverbrechen im Indischen Ozean dauern 50 Jahre nach dem Ende der Massendeportation von den Chagos-Inseln heute vor 50 Jahren an. Zu diesem Ergebnis kommt die Menschenrechtsorganisation Human Rights Watch (HRW). Hintergrund der Vorw\u00fcrfe ist der US-Milit\u00e4rst\u00fctzpunkt auf Diego Garcia, einer der Chagos-Inseln mitten im Indischen Ozean, der sich in geostrategisch herausragender Lage befindet; auch die Bundeswehr hat ihn genutzt. Als die Vereinigten Staaten ihn in den 1960er Jahren zu errichten begannen, geh\u00f6rten die Chagos-Inseln noch zur britischen Kolonie Mauritius. Washington insistierte, London m\u00fcsse die Inseln unter seiner Kolonialherrschaft behalten und zudem ihre Bev\u00f6lkerung deportieren; nur so galt Diego Garcia den USA als sicher genug f\u00fcr einen der bedeutendsten Auslandsst\u00fctzpunkte ihres Milit\u00e4rs. Die Deportation der Bev\u00f6lkerung wird von HRW als crime against humanity eingestuft, das fortdauernde R\u00fcckkehrverbot f\u00fcr sie als fortdauerndes Kolonialverbrechen. Londons bis heute bestehende Kolonialherrschaft \u00fcber die Chagos-Inseln wird von der UN-Generalversammlung sowie zwei UN-Gerichtsh\u00f6fen als v\u00f6lkerrechtswidrig kritisiert.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
