Am 30. Juni gab der wei\u00dfrussische Oberste Gerichtshof der Berufung von Viktar Skrundzik statt, hob das drei Monate zuvor vom Stadtgericht Slukts verh\u00e4ngte Todesurteil auf und ordnete eine \u00dcberpr\u00fcfung des Falles und eine Wiederaufnahme des Verfahrens an.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Skrundzik wurde wegen Mordes an zwei \u00e4lteren Personen, die bei dem Brand in ihrem eigenen Haus ums Leben kamen, zusammen mit zwei Komplizen zu 22 bzw. 18 Jahren Haft verurteilt.<\/p>\n

In seiner Berufung erkl\u00e4rte Skrundzik, dass er den Doppelmord nicht begangen habe und dass er unter Druck der Vernehmungsbeamten und aus Angst vor Vergeltungsma\u00dfnahmen von einem der beiden Mitangeklagten, einer f\u00fchrenden Pers\u00f6nlichkeit der lokalen Kriminalit\u00e4t, gestanden habe.<\/p>\n

Wei\u00dfrussland ist der einzige Staat in Europa, der die Todesstrafe verh\u00e4ngt. Nach Angaben des Justizministeriums wurden zwischen 1994 und 2014 245 Menschen hingerichtet, w\u00e4hrend es nach Angaben lokaler Menschenrechtsgruppen seit 1991, dem Jahr der Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit, rund 400 Hinrichtungen gegeben hat.<\/p>\n

Der Pr\u00e4sident Aleksandr Lukashenko hat bisher nur ein einziges Todesurteil begnadigt.<\/p>\n
