M\u00e4rz, nach der ersten Welle der Covid-19-Pandemie, hatte die Regierung von Costa Rica der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) die Schaffung einer internationalen Plattform f\u00fcr Patente vorgeschlagen. Mitte Mai hat die WHO diesen Vorschlag angenommen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Die Regierung von Costa Rica ist angesichts der Corona-Epidemie besorgt, dass einkommensschwachen Staaten \u2013 wie bei anderen Krankheiten oder Epidemien auch &#8211; der Zugang zu einem Impfstoff oder einem Medikament aufgrund der aktuellen Patentregelungen verwehrt bleiben k\u00f6nnte &#8211; sollte eine entsprechende Therapieform gefunden werden.<\/p>\n<p>Die gr\u00f6\u00dfte H\u00fcrde, die dabei \u00fcberwunden werden muss, ist die derzeitige Patentregelung f\u00fcr Innovationen im Gesundheitswesen. Diese werden vom Privatsektor f\u00fcr die Dauer von mindestens 20 Jahren monopolisiert. Durch die Einf\u00fchrung der Plattform erhalten Wissenschaftler und Unternehmen Zugang zu Daten und Informationen, die f\u00fcr die Entwicklung von L\u00f6sungen ben\u00f6tigt werden. Als Folge sollen die Kosten sinken und die Verf\u00fcgbarkeit von Behandlungen verbessert werden. Auch Staaten mit geringem Einkommen h\u00e4tten so Zugang zu neuen Medikamenten.<\/p>\n<p>Die WHO plant den offiziellen Start der Plattform f\u00fcr den 29. Mai. Laut eines Artikels der statenews.com ist noch unklar, wie viele Staaten die Initiative unterst\u00fctzen werden.
