Photographs by Boldy Tapales/Text by Karina L. Santillan

Looking outward, seeing what is before oneself, the eye captures that which resonates within oneself. We perceive and, at the same time, we sieve what we see according to what we like, what we believe in, what values we respect and see in action happening around us.

The camera in this photographer’s hands captures that which is outside, an external look, but one that also reflects that which is inside, an internal landscape, a sensibility formed by interests and significances developed through time.

This photo exhibit visually portrays external scenes that have captured the photographer’s eyes. That, at the same time, expresses an internal landscape that has been formed within.

The beauty of nature in all its elements—earth, wind, water or air– in its shades and shapes.

Simple everyday activities of everyday people casting the nets of livelihood and going about their everyday life, or capturing personalities

The spaces where one’s sacred spirit can be felt and expressed.

The vision of the real that surrounds, enters within, forming what is liked and loved.

“External landscape is what we perceive of things, while internal landscape is what we sift from them through the sieve of our internal world. These landscapes are one and constitute our indissoluble vision of reality”—Internal Landscape, Silo
