Chilean Students Confirm New Protests

04.08.2011 - Santiago - Prensa Latina

On Monday, Minister of Education Felipe Bulnes presented a 21-point document in response to the students’ demands, but the latter considered the proposals insufficient.

Seven Chilean universities have rejected the government offer. They say the Executive’s proposals would only reaffirm a market-oriented model in education and would not meet their demands.

The march scheduled for Thursday and the strike to be staged next Tuesday will start from Baquedano Square and go through Alameda Avenue to the Education Ministry, student sources announced.
