Shortly afterwards, Lula will attend an event for the One Computer per Student Program, a simultaneous inauguration of 31 federal institutes of education, science and technology in 12 states and the federal district.

The schools are part of the expansion of the federal network of professional, scientific and technological education begun in 2005 and which includes 354 schools, 214 of which were created during the Lula administration, with a total enrolment of 348,000.

Lula will hand over power to president-elect Dilma Rousseff on Jan. 1 in a ceremony at Planalto Palace, after Rousseff is sworn in as the first woman president of Brazil at the National Congress.
