President Hosni Mubarak has canceled his May 26 visit to the United States after his 12-year-old grandson died on Monday of what the presidency called a health crisis lasting two days.

Gheit and Suleiman are expected to meet with President Barack Obama in Washington.

Talks will focus on identifying ways to advance the peace process and the easing of tension between Palestinians and Israelis.

They will also inform Washington about recent talks between Palestinian political factions, with Egypt as mediator.

According to the Egyptian Gazette, four US officials are already in Cairo making arrangements for Obama’s visit to Egypt scheduled for June 4, when is expected to address a message to the Muslim world.

During his campaign, Obama promised to deliver a transcendental speech to Muslims from the capital of an Islamic country a few months after he took power.
