Pressenza Pressenza International Press Agency Porto Alegre, 29/01/10 For Emir Sader, the biggest task, after the period of resistance that marked the last decade, is to move forward. "The crisis did not terminate with the neo-liberal model, which will remain there until new alternatives are built up. The never-ending resistance is a path of defeats".
In his opinion, to keep up its importance, the World Social Forum shall not fear politics and need to cope with strategic themes. "By doing so, the WSF is not going to be what it is", he pointed out.
According to Sader, over time important questions such as economical crisis itself and wars did not have the proper attention they deserved. "In 2003, we made a huge against the invasion of Iraq and soon after we forgot the issue", he criticized.
More optimistic, French Gustave Messiah celebrated a great victory of WSF: the denial of the neo-liberal evidence. "No matter what the trade press says, today, the social won the battle of the ideas. In 2008, the economic crisis confirmed the ideas developed by the World Social Forum", stated he.
However, he also pointed out the need to go forward: "Copenhague highlighted the need of a radical change of the capitalist ideas, defeating neo-liberalism is not enough."
He proposes unitary social movement articulations as a path to fulfill this hard task. And concluded saying: "We have to converge and preserve the diversity of answers."
