Pressenza Rabat, 06/10/09 On October 4, the Moroccan capital, Rabat, became a platform for the launch of World March for Peace and Non-violence. During this extraordinary day, the entire city saw a march of residents, associations, artists and elected representatives who wanted to give a public demonstration of their commitment to a world without violence and war.

The day was organised by the Ligue de la Solidarité et de la Qualification Sociale (solidarity and social development league) and the Association de Développement de l'Espace Scolaire (association for educational development)under the slogan “for a world without violence and war”. The various regional co-ordinators of the World March, about 15 local associations, personalities and the city’s elected representatives all took part in the day’s events.

The programme included a short speech about the World March, a drawing workshop for children on the theme of peace and non-violence, a convoy of boats bearing the World Peace banners and a symbolic march along the beach. Songs and commentaries about peace and non-violence could be heard throughout the march.

A press conference was held on the following day in the assembly room of the Rabat-Salé wilaya attended by numerous journalists and personalities, including the athlete Nezha Bidouane.
