Middle East team arrives in Turkey

The flags of Peace and Nonviolence have entered Turkey from Syria. The teams met on the sixteenth at a border pass in the region of Hatay, in the middle of the night and on a road with little traffic at that time. The group had come from Syria on foot. After passport control, the two teams greeted each other with hugs and laughter.

Pressenza Antakya, 20/10/09 On the night of October 16, members of the Turkey WM met the marchers, who had come from Syria after touring the Middle East, at a border pass. They approached on foot on a quiet road with their flags and placards announcing the event that is travelling the world. After the passport control formalities, the two groups were united amid embraces. The police kindly accompanied them to their hotel “for their safety”. The next day they gave a press conference at the Antakya Press Association headquarters in the Hatay province capital.
