Russia is accusing Britain of closing Russia Today’s NatWest bank account which is described as a move against freedom of speech.

According to The Guardian “Long live freedom of speech!”, RT’s editor-in-chief, Margarita Simonyan, tweeted sarcastically.

“Simonyan said she had received a letter out of the blue from NatWest saying that it was pulling the plug on the broadcaster’s accounts from mid-December.

“We have recently undertaken a review of your banking arrangements with us and reached the conclusion that we will no longer provide these facilities,” it said. The decision was final, the letter added.”
Although the British Government, and in particular the Treasury have responded they have not been implicated in the decision, it is known that both US and Britain have been discussing further sanctions to Russia to force it to retreat from Aleppo. In fact Russia has announced a stop of the bombing campaign in order to participate in fresh talks.
