In the evening of June 24, 30,000 protesters from cities across Japan gathered to the finale of a week-long sit-in at National Diet Building. The event banner read, “Stop to the change in national security bills! Come together! 6.24 Occupy National Diet Building!”

Struggling to pass the bills at a Lower House, the Abe administration is cornered to extend the diet session to win the battle. At the demonstration outside of the National Diet Building, opposition leaders, journalist, political critics each took a microphone and extended their thanks to the protesters noting this was a sign that the opposition’s gaining strength against the Abe administration that the ruling party can’t avoid the citizens voice. One of the speakers and political scientist, Jiro Yamaguchi tweeted, “ Stay confident and positive. Let us keep going and keep fighting; we are the ones to open a future with unlimited potential.”
