MUMBAI: Over a thousand Dawoodi Bohra community members representing over 200 towns and cities across the nation today attended an environment seminar titled I LOVE CLEANLINESS organized by the community-run Burhani Foundation (India), an environment research and awareness institute established in 1992 by the late Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin.

The gathering saw the launch of a systematic nation-wide cleanliness drive by the community which starts from 14th February simultaneously all over India where the Dawoodi Bohra community members reside. The campaign executed under the directive and support of the present 53rd Dai, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, is part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swatch Bharat drive.

Apart from a video recording of Syedna emphasizing on the importance on cleanliness, the attendees were also shown an address of PM Modi’s urging for a environmentally clean nation.  Senior BMC waste management official Shrimati Seema Redkar made a presentation on how to implement the project in different ways.

On the occasion, His Eminence Prince Ammar Bhaisaheb Jmaluddin, Chairman of Burhani Foundation (India) in his address quoted Prophet Mohammed that cleanliness is a part of one’s faith. “It is our responsibility to see that we live in a clean and hygienic environment” stated Prince Jamaluddin.

The attendees shall organize year-round cleanliness drives in their respective cities under the professional guidance and monitoring of BFI and the local municipal authorities.

A report on the project’s progress shall be submitted at the PMO.
